    My Story

I was born in Michigan and publicly educated K–12 before attending Michigan State University with majors in Chemistry (B. S.) and German language (B. A.). I completed my Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry at the University of Minnesota under Marc Hillmyer and then was a postdoc at UC Santa Barbara with Craig Hawker, Glenn Fredrickson, and the late Ed Kramer. I was a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the Materials Sciences Division before moving to the University of Texas in 2015. I enjoy walking, running, and finding time to focus and think about science. I love to read science fiction whenever I get a chance. I am a parent of two talented children.
